Publishing house
Italian versionIn 1987, TEA (Tascabili degli Editori Associati) was established in Milan by Longanesi & C. and UTET, following the example of other famous European paperback imprints. TEA’s production is devoted to widening the popularity and market penetration of the best writers and titles in the Group’s publishing houses by producing quality, lowcost editions, divided into different genres, categories and series. TEA grew very rapidly, soon establishing itself as one of the major paperback publishing houses in Italy. In 30 years of activity, the number and characteristics of these series have been regularly updated, and TEA’s production has shifted from publishing a list of classics, religious books, and reference works, to a gradually expanding second phase, oriented towards the production of more popular fiction, general nonfiction, self-help and how-to titles, memoirs, and illustrated books. In 1999 Longanesi acquired 100% of TEA and in 2005 TEA became part of GeMS. With more than 2,000 titles in print, there are about 250 new releases per year, along with 350 reprints, with more than 60,000,000 copies sold since its establishment.
